Certain embodiments of the present invention provide a system and method for optimizing a self-organized network (SON) for providing automatic neighbor relationship (ANR) operations to obtain updated Macro-BS and WEAP neighbor information around the WFAP. In one embodiment, a WFAP detects a change in base station information. The WFAP then sends updated base station information to a SON server for validation. Upon receipt of validation from the SON server, the WFAP updates its neighbor relationship table with the updated neighbor base station information.

[5] A problem with the current ANR design is unreliable or out of date. neighbor information. WFAP scanning may be limited to initializing WFAP. The WFAP can obtain neighbor base station information by scanning for nearby base stations or by obtaining a neighbor list from the sister operator based on the location of the VVAP. However, the constructed neighbor list, which is based on the initiation of WFAP, can be unreliable for many reasons. For example, a neighboring base station may not have a business relationship with a Network Service Provider (NSP) for a WFAP (it is also worth noting that the NSP 'identity for a WFAP does not have to be the same as for a neighboring base station); a neighboring base station may not be in operation (for example due to on / off voltage); or a neighboring base station may not be accessible to a mobile station.

A method for optimizing a self-organized WiMAX femtype network, the method comprising: detecting, through a WFAP, a change in neighboring base station information, wherein said WFAP maintains a neighbor relationship land table, - in sending updated neighbor base station information to one or more SON servers; ooh 1 update, in response to validation from at least one of the SON-1 servers, of the neighbor relationship table based on the change in the updated neighbor base station information.
